31 iCare Health Network Caregivers Earn Certified Dementia Practitioner Credential

WETHERSFIELD (June 27, 2024) – On June 26, 2024, 31 direct caregivers from across iCare’s Greater Hartford Memory Care Centers earned their Certified Dementia Practitioner credential. 

Participants developed a better understanding of dementia and the associated disease process, learned to identify common causes of aggressive, repetitive, and sundowning behaviors in adults; describe behavioral/care interventions that may be used to prevent or reduce difficult care situations; and, learn alternative activity interventions that are success-oriented and failure-free.

The training was held at Keeney Memorial Cultural Center in Old Wethersfield and was attended by Memory Care Program Coordinators, CNAs, LPNs and other support staff and was convened be iCare’s Renee Cole, Director of Specialty Programming and Strategy. Of the even Renee said, 

“I am so grateful for iCare Health Network’s dedication to the professional growth of our CNAs, LPNs and their support staff, as well as honoring Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month through this event.”
