MANCHESTER (July 6, 2023) – On July 5, 2023, the team at Westside Care Center celebrated and recognized Hyacinth Mallett for her nearly 40 years of service to the residents of Westside.
Hyacinth joined the team on October 30, 1984 after she completed CNA training at Gables Convalescent Home on Washington Street in Hartford. She briefly worked at Burnside Convalescent Home for six months before calling Westside Care Center home.
In 2016, she received an American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) award and was inducted into the Connecticut Certified Nursing Assistants Hall of Fame for her outstanding work and long time commitment to residents and the profession.
According to Hyacinth, during her 39 years of service she has seen a lot of change throughout the industry and through several management teams and operators prior to iCare Health Network. She managed to raise her family and provide all their needs and is very proud of all she has accomplished. The most difficult time she experienced was the COVID-19 Pandemic. She says it was the saddest and scariest time but she pressed forward and focused on providing the best care possible to our residents despite what was happening all over the world.
Hyacinth loves to spend time with her grandchildren, travel, cook and help people and is an animal lover. The Westside team shared that Hyacinth will be missed and remembered as a team player and a hard worker. We all wish her a long, happy, and healthy retirement.
