MANCHESTER (July 25, 2018) – In early July, Shari Yard, RN, joined iCare Health Network as Vice President of Clinical Operations. In this role she will be responsible for ensuring that iCare managed skilled nursing communities are providing clinically excellent care to their respective residents.
Ensuring high quality clinical care for over 1300 residents across ten nursing communities involves all facets of the nursing operation, preparation for surveys by the Department of Public Health, analysis of patient outcomes, mentorship and guidance of the nursing leadership and much more.
Shari shared the following about her path to iCare:
I have devoted over 25 years of my nursing career to ensuring residents residing in skilled facilities are receiving exceptional quality of care as well as quality of life. After my initial years as a new RN working in the hospital setting, I soon discovered my passion for the geriatric population. My career in the long term care arena started with a company that provided long term care, short term rehabilitation and dementia care.
My positions included Charge Nurse, Supervisor and Assistant Director of Nursing with the aspiration to one day secure a position as the Director of Nursing Services. Working in the role as the Director of Nursing Services for over ten years in the skilled facility allowed me the opportunity to assume more responsibility in a managerial capacity while overseeing the nursing department.
My most recent experience was in the capacity as a Nurse Consultant with the Department of Public Health in the Facility Licensing and Investigations Section. My duties included conducting inspections of skilled nursing facilities throughout Connecticut to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Although this was an incredibly rewarding position, I found myself missing the hands on care as well as the one to one interactions with residents and families.
It was in the role as a Nurse Consultant that I was introduced to iCare facilities and was always impressed with the quality of care and services provided to their residents. I was honored when I was presented with the opportunity to join such an innovative company committed to the communities they serve.
As the new Vice President of Clinical Operations I look forward to providing effective oversight of clinical activities, ensuring iCare Health Network continues to produce the strongest clinical product and team in the industry.
