My adventure started in 2013, I suffered a stroke and lost my ability to walk. I went to Touchpoints at Manchester and I got on my feet again. Then 2015 I was hit with cancer in my spine and I had surgery. I could not even move my legs.
I went to several different nursing facilities over the next several months, but I was sent home unable to even stand. I required help with everything. I was told by many that I would never walk again. That was just not acceptable! I had help coming in but I just knew if I would ever be able to walk again I had to get to rehab, so I called Kim at Touchpoints at Manchester.
When it came time to plan on going home, my team at Touchpoints at Manchester told me about Touchpoints at Home. I am so glad I chose Touchpoints at Home.
My therapists Maritza and Donna really listened to me. During this time my son became engaged! My therapist Martiza was very committed to my goals, including the most important one which was to dance with my son at his wedding. Maritza is knowledgeable and has a great personality. She was always respectful and listened. I felt like I had a true partner in my rehab.
Not only am I walking, going to my beach house, I am making Sunday dinner with my family, I can now climb stairs and I am driving. I am living my life again.
Most importantly, I was able to be an active part of my son’s and beautiful daughter in laws beach front wedding My deepest joy was looking into my son’s eyes during our Mother and son dance at the reception.
