EAST WINDSOR (June 14, 2019) – Touchpoints at Chestnut organized and celebrated a “Caribbean Week” full of events, food and parties. One event saw staff members sharing their personal stories of life on their island and how they came to be here in Connecticut.
The residents enjoyed hearing their personal stories, asked plenty of questions and sang and danced to traditional songs. To close out the week, last Friday staff were encouraged to wear colors representing their island and virtually the entire team prepared dishes native to their community for a staff potluck. The residents enjoyed non-alcoholic pina coladas and a Jamaican sweet potato pudding prepared by one of our own Jamaican cooks on staff.
The week built awareness, pride, camaraderie and bonds among the staff and between staff and the residents they care for every day
