EAST WINDSOR (February 8, 2024) – On February 6, 2024, as part of Black History Month, the team at Touchpoints at Chestnut celebrated the life of music legend Bob Marley. Staff and residents enjoyed listening to his music and shared Jamaican beef patties and cocoa bread.
February 6th is Bob Marley Day. Nesta Robert “Bob” Marley was born February 6, 1945 in Nine Mile, Jamaica. He emerged as the single most influential reggae musician of all time and is closely associated with Jamaican national identity and Rastafarian spirituality.
Considered one of the pioneers of the genre, his music fused elements of reggae, ska, and rocksteady, and he was renowned for his distinctive vocal and songwriting style. Marley’s contribution to music irrefutably increased the visibility of Jamaican music worldwide, and made him a global figure in popular culture.
