As part of National Recovery Month and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Stigma Free Campaign, Chelsea Place Care Center in Hartford and Touchpoints at Chestnut in East Windsor, both iCare Health Network communities, held kick-off, pep-rally type events to celebrate and embrace stigma-free care. Chelsea Place Care Center celebrates National Nursing Home Week, sometimes called National Skilled Nursing Care Week with a wedding event. Two couples, where each husband is a Chelsea Place resident, renewed their vows. Click for more pictures.

The entire iCare team is excited to celebrate National Nursing Home Week, this week May 13-19th. According to the American Health Care Association (AHCA) website, AHCA established the weeklong celebration in 1967, always beginning on Mother’s Day. NNHW provides an opportunity for residents and their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and surrounding communities to recognize the role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.

iCare’s Director of Nursing team along with the regional clinical team celebrated Valentine’s Day with a luncheon at Chelsea Place Care Center.

Among many, many iCare Christmas activities, the staff at Silver Springs wraps resident gifts and the Chelsea Place team rides Santa’s sleigh through the resident care floors delivering glad tidings.
