As of March 2018, Fresh River Healthcare is now providing a specialized and cutting edge Parkinson’s Disease therapy known as the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment Therapy (LSVT). This approach aims to address the “internal” aspects of Parkinson’s disease symptoms, leading to significant functional improvements. LSVT improves the voice and speech of individuals with Parkinson’s disease by treating the physical pathology associated with a disordered voice.

Patients continue to stress the importance of having the same team see them in the hospital and in the skilled nursing facility including the pulmonologist and care transitions team.

iCare at the ACHCA Annual Meeting and Hall of Fame Induction - Connecticut Chapter, 2018

Members of the iCare team was on hand at the Connecticut Chapter of the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) Annual Meeting on March 15th. Jessica was elected the organization’s Vice President of the Board of Directors and Patrick was elected a Director for the 2018-2020 term. Of note, 60 West Certified Nursing Assistant Otis Harris was inducted into the CNA Hall of Fame; a distinction unique to ACHCA. -
Fresh River announced the creation of a Parkinson’s Disease Support Group to be held at the center in East Windsor. Members of the public are encouraged to attend. The meeting is held on the third Wednesday of the month at 1:30 pm. The meeting is supported by the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA) with structure provided by a local Program Director for the organization.
