Touchpoints at Chestnut organized and celebrated a “Caribbean Week” full of events, food and parties. One event saw staff members sharing their personal stories of life on their island and how they came to be here in Connecticut. The residents enjoyed hearing their personal stories, asked plenty of questions and sang and danced to traditional songs. Trinity Hill Care Center residents and staff were treated to a visit by Toast and Dublin, new pet therapy golden retrievers, courtesy of Neil and Linda Clearly. The two friendly canines made their way through the care center to bring stress-relief and joy to those around them in a way that only pets can.

The staff and residents came together to celebrate Evelyn Lindo’s 100th Birthday. Ms. Lindo was born and raised in a little village in Jamaica. She told the group that she never thought in a million years she would see her 100th birthday. She explained that she did a lot of walking and took care of herself. She even joked and stated, “From the top of my body, I don’t feel 100, but from the bottom down I do.”

staff and their families from Chelsea Place, Parkville and Trinity Hill Care Centers represented iCare at the 2019 Greater Hartford Puerto Rican Day Parade and Festival. The iCare team marched in the parade from Wawarme Avenue, ending in Bushnell Park, decked out in matching t-shirts and regalia and accompanied by two decorated Jeeps. The day’s theme was Honrando el Pasado y Celebrando el Futuro; honoring the past and celebrating the future.
